Take over every line of Think, Mark! and see how close you can get.
The scene
The last few minutes of Invincible’s first season: Omni-Man has beaten his teenage son nearly to death, and instead of finishing it he starts talking. What he says is a speech about time. Mark will outlive everyone he loves. The planet will crumble. What will he have left after five hundred years? Mark, barely conscious, gives the only answer that could stop the fight. Omni-Man has nine of the eleven lines and Mark has two, so this is close to a monologue with a single, devastating reply.
It’s famous for one shouted line, the one that names the scene, but the reason people quote it is the tone around it. Omni-Man isn’t gloating. He sounds exhausted and almost pleading, a father who thinks he is being merciful. The shout is a crack in that, and then the speech settles back into a grim, level cadence that builds again toward the question. Mark’s answer is quiet and a bit slurred, and the final line is Omni-Man making a sound that isn’t a word at all before he leaves the planet.

Performing it
Seventy-six seconds and one big shout: save your voice for it, and don’t let it bleed into the lines after. The trap is the pause before the shout, which most people fill too early. Omni-Man’s longer lines want a slow, tired weight, not a villain voice; think of a man who has convinced himself. Mark’s two lines should sound like they hurt to say, breath first, words second. This is really a solo piece. In a two-player room the Mark player waits a long time for the most important six words in the scene, so the small part isn’t the easy one.
The dialogue is muted and everything else stays — the score, the room, the picture. You record each line over the silence and the scene plays back with you in the cast. How a dub is made · what the score measures.
