The scene
A family dinner in Invincible, fifty seconds long, eleven lines split almost evenly: Debbie three, Mark four, Nolan four. Debbie has cooked, Mark is bursting to share something, and Nolan strolls in late with the most casual excuse in television — a dragon, Hong Kong, dealt with — before being steered back to his son. Mark's news is that his powers have arrived, evidence being a rubbish bag thrown into orbit from work. Nolan's reply, the two-word question that gives the scene its title, became a meme because of how much doubt it packs into so little.
The comedy is in the register mismatch. Debbie talks like a mother who has flown in sausages for a special occasion; Nolan talks about saving a city the way you would mention traffic; Mark is a teenager trying to be cool about the biggest day of his life and failing with a chuckle. Nothing in the dialogue is shouted. Everyone is polite, warm and slightly wrong-footed, and the whole thing lands because of timing rather than volume. It is a rare dub scene where the correct performance is ordinary suburban conversation, which turns out to be surprisingly hard.

I had a pretty interesting day.
Guess who's finally getting his powers?” *chuckle*

Performing it
Debbie's opening line is the longest and sets the pace — the bratwurst build wants a little pride in it. Mark's confession has a chuckle written in; get the laugh out before the cue ends or it spills into Nolan's question. Nolan's doubt should be underplayed almost to nothing; the meme lives in the flatness. His follow-up about training is the trap: the longest of his four, and it turns on a dime from suspicion to enthusiasm. Three characters means a two-player room hands someone a double, and Debbie plus Mark against a solo Nolan is the natural pairing. Deadpan Nolan, overexcited Mark is the safe comic bet.
The dialogue is muted and everything else stays — the score, the room, the picture. You record each line over the silence and the scene plays back with you in the cast. How a dub is made · what the score measures.
