Take over every line of We Are Venom and see how close you can get.
The scene
Eddie tries to set ground rules with the alien living inside him. Forty-three lines over two and a half minutes: Eddie eighteen, Venom fifteen, a shop robber five, Mrs. Chen four, and one credited line that is just a bite.
The first half is a negotiation — Venom can only eat very, very bad people, and the problem of telling the difference is waved away as something you can intuit. Then they walk into Mrs. Chen's shop mid-robbery and get to test it. Venom's threat to the robber is the centrepiece, an extended description of being left armless, legless and faceless, rolling down the street. Afterwards Eddie describes Venom to Mrs. Chen as a parasite, which starts a completely different argument.

Performing it
The two leads are one actor's problem in solo and a gift in a room: Venom should be pitched as low as you can hold without losing the words, and the contrast with Eddie's ordinary register is most of the effect. Don't rush the threat — it is written as a slow, relishing list, and every clause should sound like it is being enjoyed. Eddie is the comic straight man and works best exasperated rather than frightened. We... are Venom
is the line everyone is waiting for, so leave air around it. Mrs. Chen and the robber are small parts that keep a four-player room busy.
The dialogue is muted and everything else stays — the score, the room, the picture. You record each line over the silence and the scene plays back with you in the cast. How a dub is made · what the score measures.
