Strange and Thanos meet on Titan and argue about genocide for two minutes. Twenty-seven lines, seventeen of them Thanos's, which makes this closer to a villain's monologue with heckling than a conversation.

Thanos explains Titan: too many mouths, not enough to go around, and a solution offered at random, dispassionate, fair to rich and poor alike. Strange's ten lines are almost all needling — Genocide?, Congratulations, you're a prophet, Who wants to murder trillions — and they exist to keep puncturing a speech that is otherwise quite reasonable in tone. It ends on a single word from Thanos, Our?, which is the moment the scene turns.

Performing it

The whole thing rests on Thanos being calm. He is not ranting; he is explaining something he considers settled and slightly tedious to keep justifying, and the horror comes from how measured he is. Pitch him low and unhurried and resist any temptation to shout. Strange is the opposite — quick, dry and deliberately rude, throwing one-word interruptions into the gaps. The hardest choices require the strongest wills is the line to protect. The final Our? is one syllable carrying a plot twist, so leave a beat before it. A strong two-hander with a big part and a sharp one.
