Performing it
Everything hinges on the gap between line three and line four. The first three lines are relaxed, playful commentary — the voice of someone narrating for an audience — and they need to be genuinely light or the switch has no impact. Then the realisation, which should be quiet before it is loud: the question first, then the scream. The last two lines are the aftermath and should sound rattled rather than performed. Fifty-seven seconds, one part, no scene partner — an easy pick for a first solo, and a good one for practising a single hard turn.
