Take over every line of DoodleBob and see how close you can get.
The scene
Frankendoodle. A magic pencil falls into the sea, SpongeBob draws a copy of himself as the ultimate Squidward prank, and the drawing comes alive, beats Squidward up, grabs the pencil and bolts. SpongeBob and Patrick track it to a badly drawn pineapple, fall through the floor, get pelted with drawn objects, and stage a surprise attack that Patrick mistakes for a surprise party. It ends with SpongeBob getting hold of the eraser and rubbing his creation out piece by piece, then declaring himself the destroyer of evil while Patrick reminds him it was a drawing.
SpongeBob has thirty-eight of the eighty-one lines, Patrick twenty-five, DoodleBob fifteen, and every one of DoodleBob’s is gibberish, an angry scribble noise with no words in it. Squidward gets three, all pain. The structure is a horror-movie parody: giggling setup, a monster loose, tiptoeing into a dark house, a hunt, a showdown with a villain speech. Patrick’s single-word Finland!
after being hit is the most-quoted line, and it makes no sense, which is why.

Performing it
DoodleBob’s fifteen lines have no words at all, so settle on one signature babble and vary its pitch and intensity; the quiet one when he is sneaking should be a whole different creature. The trap is SpongeBob’s eraser spree, a long run of this-and-that that has to keep time with the strokes. Patrick’s Finland line is one word: deadpan, slightly concussed. Squidward’s three lines are all screams. In a two-player room, SpongeBob against Patrick-plus-Doodle gives the second player a quarter of the scene in pure nonsense. It is nearly four minutes, so solo is a commitment. Play SpongeBob’s revenge speech as straight action hero.
The dialogue is muted and everything else stays — the score, the room, the picture. You record each line over the silence and the scene plays back with you in the cast. How a dub is made · what the score measures.
