Take over every line of Expedition 33: Act 2 Fight and see how close you can get.
The scene
A father and a son having the argument at the top of their lungs, in the middle of a boss fight. Renoir has come to take Verso home and Verso has told him there is no home to go to; forty of the seventy lines are Renoir's, and he spends them making the same case from every angle — the pain he inherited, the family that is still standing, the sister and the mother, WE are your family — while the party he's fighting works out how to put him down.
It runs seven and a half minutes, which makes it one of the longest scenes in the library and the only one where a fight and a family row are the same conversation. Maelle has eleven lines, Verso nine, Lune eight and Sciel two, and they're the reason it doesn't become a monologue: every time Renoir asks a question, somebody on the other side answers it flatly, and the flatness is what hurts. The last minute drops out of the fight entirely — the party catching their breath, Maelle not sure what she just did, and a door with the future of Lumiere behind it.

Performing it
Renoir is the part, and the trap is playing him as a villain. He's pleading — So trust me
, I refuse to lose my son
, Then so be it
are a man talking himself into something, and they should get quieter as they get worse, not louder. Seven of his forty lines are grunts and breathing marked with an asterisk; record those as real effort rather than acting, and don't skip them, because they're the fight happening under the argument.
Verso answers with almost nothing and should sound like it — Im tired....
and Family is... complicated....
are the whole performance, and they land if you resist filling the pauses. Maelle, Lune and Sciel are three separate jobs at the end: Maelle shaken, Lune steady enough for both of them, Sciel asking the question nobody wants to answer. If you're dubbing all five yourself, do Renoir's forty in one pass while you've got the voice for it.
The dialogue is muted and everything else stays — the score, the room, the picture. You record each line over the silence and the scene plays back with you in the cast. How a dub is made · what the score measures.
