The scene

Peter signs a contract, keeps the corporate plane, and then finds himself floating several feet off the floor for no reason anyone can explain. Eleven lines in thirty-one seconds, split six to Lois and five to Peter.

It escalates in about four exchanges. Lois asks how he is doing that; he does not know and he is scared. She suggests he come down; he cannot. He asks her to call somebody, she asks who, and he arrives at police, fire, and finally scientist — call a scientist. Lois tells the kids to stay with their father and leaves to find one. Peter's closing line is a question about whether he is going to die.

Performing it

Thirty seconds and two parts, which makes it one of the quickest two-player scenes here and a good one for a first take. The whole thing runs on stammering: four of Peter's five lines break up mid-word, and the panic only reads if you actually let the stutter slow you down rather than pushing through it. Lois should stay reasonable for slightly too long — her Well, come down is funny precisely because it is the sensible suggestion. The last line lands better said small.
