The scene

He will not take his sneakers off, because he is Sneakers O'Toole. The men demand it twice and get "no" twice. Then one of them gives up on the grounds that they'll never catch him — not in these shoes — and O'Toole signs off by confirming that he didn't take his sneakers off and is therefore still Sneakers O'Toole.

Performing it
The shortest pack in the library and the easiest to get wrong by overplaying. O'Toole should sound reasonable, almost patient, as though explaining an obvious point of logic; the two "no"s are flat refusals, not shouts. The men are the ones allowed to get heated. The final line is the whole joke restated, so deliver it with quiet satisfaction — a man who has proved something.
